Working closely with key local high schools, the Holman Barnes Group (HBG) University Scholarship Program is designed to financially support and encourage the University enrolment of up to three local high school students at any given enrolment period whilst providing them with first hand work experience across a wide range of disciplines, including but not limited to Marketing, Finance, Analytical, IT/Cyber Security, Hotel Management, Human Resources and Law.

This program is specifically designed to provide life changing experiences for students who display notable academic performance and quality leadership skills while experiencing socioeconomic disadvantage.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible, the student must be nominated by their school Principal/Vice Principal and be enrolled full-time in Year 12 at one of the identified local high schools.  Nominees must be able to demonstrate consistent academic performance coupled with leadership acumen as identified by their school Principal / Vice Principal and at least two independent referees.

All nominations are screened by the Club’s Committee in consultation with the nominating Principals/Vice Principals to ensure that each candidate is suited to and demonstrates the motivation required to undertake the work required from their chosen course. A short-listing process and panel-style interview will closely follow.

Candidates must be available to personally attend each scheduled interview.

In addition to undertaking the selected enrolled course, the candidate must agree to work a minimum 10 hours per week within the respective department of the Club under the Terms, Conditions and Renumeration of the Registered and Licenced Clubs Award for the duration of the funding period.

Terms & Conditions

The candidate undertakes to attend at least 90% of course time and submit all assessment and measurable tasks on spec and on time and make every genuine effort to pass their course.  Sound and consistent aptitude and application is required for the duration of the funding period.

The candidate undertakes to work at least 10 hours per week in the relevant area of study whilst being supervised and mentored by a Senior Manager of HBG. Additional shifts which may include other areas of the business will be negotiated between the parties if the candidate desires.

Terms, Conditions and Renumeration of employment will be governed by the Registered and Licenced Clubs Award as well as the Club’s Code of Conduct and relevant Club Policies.

Grants will cover domestic Tuition Fees, Practical Exam Fees, Books and miscellaneous items required from time to time on a Semester basis and will be paid each Semester direct to the Institution in AUD upon receipt of an Invoice.

Additional support (if necessary) will be considered on a need basis.

The candidate agrees to stay connected to HBG once they complete the enrolled Course as part of an Alumni Program which aims to showcase the growth and development of benefactors of the University Scholarship Program.

Failure to comply with these terms and conditions may mean that the full amount granted by HBG becomes fully repayable by the candidate to HBG.
