VALE KEITH BARNES

Holman Barnes Group expresses deep sadness as we mourn the passing of the esteemed Keith Barnes.

Known as “Golden Boots”, Keith played 194 games for Balmain (1955-1968) and 14 Tests for Australia where he Captained 12 and scored a total of 54 points, making him one of the most successful Test Captains of all time and holds Balmain’s Club Records for scoring the most career points (1519).

After his revered football career, Keith was appointed Secretary of Balmain Leagues Club and CEO of Balmain Tigers Rugby League Football Club until his retirement.

He was selected in the Balmain and Wests Tigers Teams of the Century and the ARL Hall of Fame and was honoured with an Order of Australia and Australian Sports Medal for his Rugby League achievements.

In 2022, as the result of the amalgamation between Wests Ashfield and Balmain Leagues Club, Keith Barnes was honoured along with Keith Holman in the naming of the Holman Barnes Group (formerly Wests Ashfield Group).  The renaming of the Group ensures that Keith’s legacy and that of his beloved Balmain Tigers will live on.

Our heartfelt condolences are extended to Keith’s wife Robin and family.
