Art Competition & Exhibition

Supporting the local community in Ashfield and surrounding areas, Wests Ashfield is once again encouraging budding young talent within our local primary and secondary schools, by offering students and their schools the chance to win some fantastic prizes.

This year, the chosen theme is: My Community, My Story

Our Club’s Reception area will transform into a spectacular pop-up Art Gallery filled with vibrant local art pieces from both primary and secondary school students.

Information & Timeline

Theme overview-

A celebration of the people, places, and stories that make where we live special. From family and friends to local landmarks, bustling parks, festivals, or even a favourite neighbourhood café — every story matters and every story is unique. Through paintings, drawings, sculptures, or mixed media, students are encouraged to explore:

  • Who inspires them in their community
  • What places feel like “home”
  • How cultures, traditions, and shared spaces connect us
  • Moments that make their neighbourhood special

This theme is an opportunity for students of all ages to express their personal identity, celebrate diversity, and honour the spirit of belonging that makes every community unique

Important information & dates

  • Friday 1 August –  Physical works for art exhibition are to be submitted to Wests Ashfield venue (Includes Painting, Sketch, Printmaking, Photography and Pottery)
  • Friday 8 August –Art Exhibition will be open until presentation of awards
  • Friday 8 August – People’s Choice Voting OPENS
  • Sunday 17 August –People’s Choice Voting CLOSES
  • Tuesday 26 August – Official presentation and awards will take place

PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARD (ONLINE) 

To be able to participate in the “People’s Choice”, you must be 18 years or older and be a financial member of Holman Barnes Group. If you are not a member you can simply sign up from as little as $3.

Steps to Vote:

The post with the highest amount of likes from both categories will determine the winner of the, “People’s Choice Award”.
