Art Competition & Exhibition

Supporting the local community in Ashfield and surrounding areas, Wests Ashfield is once again encouraging budding young talent within our local primary and secondary schools, by offering students and their schools the chance to win some fantastic prizes.

This year, the chosen theme is: Your interpretation of, “Heroes Amongst Us”

Our Clubs’ Reception area will transform into a spectacular pop-up Art Gallery filled with vibrant local art pieces from both primary and secondary school students.

Heroes Amongst Us-Theme Overview

Heroes walk among us every day, often unnoticed, quietly performing acts of kindness, bravery, and sacrifice. This competition invites artists to celebrate these unsung heroes through their creative expressions. Whether it’s the selfless teacher inspiring students, the tireless healthcare worker saving lives, the neighbour who always lends a helping hand, or the stranger who steps up in a moment of crisis – heroes come in many forms and their stories deserve to be told.

Important information & dates

  • Friday 2 August –  Physical works for art exhibition are to be submitted to Wests Ashfield venue (Includes Painting, Sketch, Printmaking, Photography and Pottery)
  • Friday 9 August – Art Exhibition will be open until presentation of awards
  • Friday 9 August – People’s Choice Voting OPENS
  • Sunday 18 August – People’s Choice Voting CLOSES
  • Tuesday 20 August – Official presentation and awards will take place

PEOPLE’S CHOICE (ONLINE) 

To be able to participate in the “People’s Choice”, you must be 18 years or older and be a financial member of Holman Barnes Group. If you are not a member you can simply sign up from as little as $3.

Steps to Vote:

  • Like us on Facebook @westsafield
  • Take a picture of the artwork from the pop-up gallery
  • Post on Facebook Profile (Public Post)
  • Caption: #2023HBartscompetition @westsafield

The post with highest amount of likes from both categories will determine the winner of the, “People’s Choice Award”.
